Norfolk charity Sue Lambert Trust has launched a 24-hour sponsored silence challenge to raise funds to provide specialist counselling sessions and support services.
And we're taking part. Will you join us?
Clive Evans, the charity’s CEO says by taking on the challenge, supporters will help to raise awareness of the devastating impact of sexual violence and abuse; a crime that keeps people suffering in silence for years and even decades.
For 40 years, Sue Lambert Trust has been supporting individuals who have experienced sexual abuse and sexual violence. No matter whether the abuse took place a year or many decades ago, its team of specialists are ready to listen and support people to heal.
It currently sees around 250 people every week for one-to-one counselling sessions, group support services, and helps people with additional matters such as housing, finances, health, and wellbeing. It reports that demand continues to grow, and through this new fundraiser, it aims to raise funds for its vital specialist counselling.
‘Go Silent for Sue Lambert Trust’ coincides with Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week (5 - 11 February 2024) which aims to provide an opportunity for any organisation or individual to engage in dialogue about sexual abuse and violence - a topic that is not often spoken about.
Taking on the challenge, people will be sponsored to go silent for 24 hours and can choose which day of the week they’d like to take part.
Sue Lambert Trust also hopes to raise awareness of the fact that many people suffer in silence for years and sometimes decades, living with the devastating emotional pain of sexual abuse and violence every day. It wants people to know that it’s okay to speak out, support is available, and Sue Lambert Trust is ready to listen.
Clive Evans, CEO of Sue Lambert Trust says; “Sexual abuse and sexual violence devastates lives and is a crime that silences so many. It is never okay. And we want survivors to know that no matter how long they have been suffering in silence, whether the abuse or attack happened a year ago, in childhood or decades has passed, when you feel ready to talk, we are ready to hear and believe you.”
Clive adds; “Our counselling and support services enable and empower people to go on to live happier, more fulfilled lives, and everyone deserves that chance. Please sign up for the ‘Go Silent for Sue Lambert Trust’ challenge knowing that the money you raise will help give people in Norfolk a voice.”

"Plain Speaking are always one of my favourite agencies to work with on stories. They never approach things with a ‘one size fits all’ approach to the media and take time to understand exactly what your audience needs and go over and above to make sure you can serve them. They are open minded with more modern media practices and never drop back into PR cliché – which is refreshing in a market with a lot of old school practitioners who haven’t moved with the times. Their organisation of media events is always exceptional, and the whole team are genuinely a pleasure to do business with."
Neil Perry, Managing Editor, BizClick Media

"I love working with Hannah and Pippa. It's so seamless. They really understand what we need - that readers must come first, and we don't want hundreds of emails promoting things that our readers won't be interested in in a million years. Everything they send us is very professionally put together, perfect for our audiences and a good read. We really enjoy working with them at the EDP."
Liz Nice, Editor, East Anglian Daily Times
"Plain Speaking PR have been brilliant. They really understand what we are all about. As a small social enterprise, we have to do everything ourselves and Pip and Hannah have made a real difference to our press releases. We have been picked up and featured in print and radio media as a direct result. Thank you!"
